CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 – The Des Moines Menace Academy 13U boys won the Iowa Soccer Indoor Championships in style last weekend at the UNI Dome.
The Menace defeated Cedar River Soccer Association - Black (Cedar Rapids) last Sunday in the final, 3-0. Two goals from Tonatiuh Merlos-Rojas and another from Freddy Muniz, combined with great goalkeeping from Diego Leon in the final, wrapped up a very successful weekend. After winning all three of their group games in Pool A, the 13U Menace boys beat Johnston-Urbandale Soccer Club, 6-5, in a very competitive semi-final.
“The players worked extremely hard and played the Menace way,” coach David Soto said. “We are very excited to get back outdoors and continue this growth into the spring season.”
The success at this 7v7 event keeps the momentum going for the Menace Academy, whose players are busy training and playing Menace Champions League games throughout the winter season in preparation for the spring.
