Menace Cease Operations of Menace Academy

DES MOINES, Iowa – Wednesday, May 22, 2019 – The Menace will be ceasing operations of the U7-U10 Academy and Menace Academy Select teams.

The end of the 2018-’19 season will be the last for Menace Academy as the organization looks to put more focus toward the future of the first team.

Tiley Nunnink, General Manager of the Menace, “We have decided to cease operations in order to put more energy toward our first team operations. This decision was not easy, but we are confident this will create even greater opportunities for soccer players in Des Moines and throughout the state of Iowa.”

Menace Academy has found great success over the past several years highlighted by several State Cup victories. Thousands of kids have played at Aliber Soccer Complex either for or against Menace Academy teams. The pride of the organization rests not in the wins and losses, but the amount of people who have played/coached the game of soccer with Menace Academy.

Tomas Boltnar, current Director of Coaching of Menace Academy, stated, “On behalf of the Menace Coaching Staff we are sincerely thankful for all the relationships that have been built over the years. We hold nothing but gratitude toward each player, coach, the organization and each family that invested their time with the Menace. We are looking forward to working with the players as we transition to a new journey.”

We have engaged local clubs in coordination with our current coaching staff to help identify ways to help ease the transition of the players and coaches to new organizations for the next year.

The Menace will continue to provide youth programs such as Menace Camps, Menace Tournaments and Junior Menace.

ABOUT THE MENACE: The Des Moines Menace provides the highest level of soccer in Iowa. Preparing for its 26th season, the Menace men’s team competes in the newly named USL League Two.
